Yes there's 64bit software, the PIW should have downloaded that software. The installer application running however maybe 32bit. Even on a 64bit system, some files and applications still run on 32bit. Though the software being installed is for the correct "bit".

Also, there's a few other things I would like you to do in regards to this. As it sounds like the install just stops.

First make sure you have completely removed any software that may have been installed. If nothing is listed in programs/features. Then do the follow prior to the install.

If you're running McAfee Live Safe, please temporarily disable the "real time scanning". Try the install.

If you are not, or there were still issues with the install try the following.

Go to the start screen (you may also press the windows key + R to open the run box) and type %WINDIR% this should show the windows folder, click on the folder and scroll until you see files. Look for a filed named "HPWINS*.DAT" (the * is for a number that varies) remove this file and try the installation.
