Hi @HUAKINA

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for laying out the situation so clearly. It’s genuinely frustrating to replace cartridges—twice—and still be met with flashing lights and no resolution, especially when you’ve already cleaned contacts and power-cycled the printer.

Let’s walk through a focused recovery path to help resolve the persistent color ink light on your HP DeskJet 2700.

Step-by-Step Fix for Flashing Color Ink Light

1. Confirm Cartridge Type and Authenticity

  • Ensure you’re using HP 305 Tri-color or HP 67 Tri-color, depending on your region.
  • Cartridges must be genuine HP—refilled or third-party cartridges may trigger detection errors even if previously accepted.

2. Clean Cartridge Contacts Thoroughly

Even minor residue can block recognition.

  • Power off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the color cartridge.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean:
    • The copper contacts on the cartridge
    • The contact area inside the printer
  • Let everything dry for 5 minutes before reinserting.

3. Reset the Printer’s Ink System

This forces the printer to reinitialize cartridge detection.

  • With the printer powered on:
    • Open the cartridge access door
    • Remove both cartridges
    • Close the door and wait for the error message
    • Reopen the door and reinstall both cartridges
    • Close the door again and wait for the printer to recalibrate

4. Update Firmware

Outdated firmware can misread cartridge chips.

5.  Use HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool (Windows)

  • In the HP Smart app, click Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Let it run a scan—it will automatically fix common connection issues.
You can also access this tool on HP’s support page if needed.

You’ve already done everything right by replacing cartridges, cleaning contacts, and restarting—let’s make sure your printer recognizes the ink and gets back to smooth operation.
