This is such a stupid issue. If they would just communicate the issue, I'd be fine with it. I'm actually fine with the fact that they don't want to print to a border on duplex printing. I'm ok with the fact that borderless printing only works with single sided printing. But I HATE the fact that to enforce it, they chose to shrink the page!!!!
I understand that most of the public probably won't notice the shrinkage as much as they would if their page was getting cut off. But I would so much prefer the option to turn off shrinking and just don't allow printing beyond a certain dimension, and that HP document those dimensions accurately.
So my workaround is to set my page margin to zero and print to the edge of the paper. Then at least the margin is reasonable. .
As I said, I would much rather a hardware enforced border and no shrinking than this stupid method. It makes graphic arts impossibly hard to get correct without lots of testing and workarounds. And I hate not being able to place components at known dimensions and having to stretch stuff to make it look right when it's finally printed. Looks like I'll be looking at the competition next time I need a printer.
STUPID!!!!!
