Hello @MC16_, and welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.
If your HP DeskJet 3630 printer has the top two lights on the right flashing and your computer reports a paper jam, even though there’s no visible jam, this is likely a false paper jam error or a carriage stall. Here's how to troubleshoot and resolve it:
Reset the Printer
This can often clear false errors.
- Turn the printer on.
- With the printer still on, disconnect the power cord from the back.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall and then into the printer.
- Turn the printer back on.
Try printing again.
Check for Paper or Obstructions
Even a small scrap of paper can trigger a jam error.
- Open the input and output trays.
- Remove any paper.
- Open the cartridge access door and check for:
- Torn paper
- Foreign objects (like paper clips)
- Ink cartridge movement (it should slide freely)
Use a flashlight if needed.
Clean the Paper Path
Dust or debris can cause feeding issues.
- Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the rollers.
- Let them dry completely before closing the printer.
Check the Ink Cartridges
Improperly seated cartridges can cause flashing lights.
- Open the cartridge access door.
- Remove and reinsert both cartridges.
- Ensure they click into place.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers
Sometimes, driver issues can cause communication errors.
