Hi @JohnP16

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet 4650 is experiencing a power issue, possibly related to the internal power module. While this could indicate a hardware failure, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try before considering a replacement.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect the power cord while the printer is still on.
  • Unplug the other end from the power source.
  • Wait 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord and try turning on the printer.

Check the Power Source

  • Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet, avoiding power strips or surge protectors.
  • Test the outlet with another device to confirm it’s working.

Inspect the Power Cable & Adapter

  • Look for any visible damage on the power cord.
  • If possible, try using a compatible HP power adapter from another device.

Reset the Printer’s Power Module

  • If your printer has an external power module, unplug it for 60 seconds, then reconnect it.

Check for Physical Obstructions

  • Open the printer and ensure there are no paper jams or stuck components that might be interfering with startup.

If none of these steps work, the issue may be with the internal power module, which would require replacement. Contacting HP Phone Support directly might be the best option.
