@Dougies, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

That small blank field appears to be an invisible input box, most likely intended for internal testing, telemetry, or feedback purposes, but it’s unintentionally left active or visible in some builds of HP Easy Start, particularly on macOS versions where compatibility might be lagging.

Regarding Your Actual Issue: “Printhead Appears to be Missing or Damaged, please follow these steps,

Printhead Error Workaround:

  • Remove all cartridges.
  • With the printer on, unplug the power cord.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in, wait for the error to appear, then reinstall the cartridges one by one, slowly.

Driver Support for macOS Sequoia:

HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer supports up to MacOS 15.

Use the AirPrint driver built into macOS:

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click + to add a printer.
  • Select your HP 8620 and choose "Use: AirPrint" from the dropdown instead of HP's driver.

HP Smart App for macOS:

  • Install the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store. It often communicates better with HP printers than the Easy Start utility, especially when official drivers lag behind OS updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
