Samsung CLP-680ND - "Not Compatible" Error

Samsung CLP-680ND color laser printer worked dependably with mix of OEM Samsung Y and K-carts, and aftermarket C and M-carts. I inserted a NEW replacement aftermarket brand M-cart and the printer immediately displayed "Not Compatible K-toner cart." error (with red LED/no print), followed by "Not Compatible C toner cart.", followed by "Not Compatible M toner cart." The printer suddenly identifies THREE toner carts as not compatible, one of which is an OEM Samsung cart! When I put the empty cart back into the printer, the thing continues to display that three carts are "not compatible".

I speculate no one posting to this forum is a printer tech or Samsung engineer. Nonetheless, I followed, multiple times, every recommendation that proports a solution to the "Not Compatible" error:
- Did the "Power off and unplug for n-minutes" ritual;
- Left the printer sit "Powered-on and unused for n-minutes" ritual;
- Removed/re-seated each toner cart;
- Swapped old-for-new carts; swapped in another NEW (aftermarket) cart;
- Cleaned w/alcohol all contacts on each toner cart & inside printer;
- Performed "All Memory Clear" in Tech Mode;
- Changed "Country" in Tech Mode, the set it back again.
None of the described activities cleared the error and restored printer operation.

Things I did NOT do prior to the getting "Not Compatible" error message:
- Remove/reinstall the printer on the computer;
- Install/update printer driver software;
- Access printer via HTML;
- Update ("flash") printer firmware.

All I did is replace an empty cartridge with an identical-brand aftermarket cart. Yet this routine exercise somehow broke the printer.
