Hi @BForme,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check Paper Type and Settings:
- Ensure you are using compatible HP Photo paper for your printer model.
- Verify that the paper settings in the print driver match the type of photo paper you are using. For instance, if you're using glossy photo paper, ensure the settings reflect this.
Inspect and Prepare the Paper:
- Remove any photo paper currently in the tray.
- Check the photo paper for any bent or curled edges.
- Fan the photo paper stack to prevent sheets from sticking together and then align the edges on a flat surface.
Load Photo Paper Correctly:
- Load the photo paper into the printer's input tray with the print side facing down.
- Ensure the paper width guides in the tray are adjusted snugly against the paper stack but not too tightly.
Reduce Paper Stack Height:
- Do not exceed the maximum paper stack height in the input tray.
- Load fewer sheets of photo paper to reduce strain on the printer.
Check for Obstructions:
- Remove the paper tray and inspect the inside of the printer for any obstructions or remnants of paper that might have torn off during a previous jam.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check and download updates from the HP Support page.
Clean the Rollers:
- Gently clean the rollers inside the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water. This can help in cases where paper might be slipping due to dust accumulation.
Test with Plain Paper:
- Try printing on plain paper. If plain paper does not jam, the issue might be specific to the photo paper.
Reset the Printer:
- Reset the printer by unplugging it from the power source for about 60 seconds and then plugging it in again. This can sometimes resolve malfunction issues.
I hope this helps.
