Hi @UPST8,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I get how incredibly frustrating it is to have a brand-new printer all set up and ready to go, only to watch your print jobs just sit there... stuck in limbo in the queue.
Here are a few steps to help your HP Officejet Pro 9730e get back to printing on Windows 11:
Step 1: Restart Printer Spooler Service
- On your PC, press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
- Scroll down to Print Spooler.
- Right-click it and select Stop.
- Then go to:
C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
(it may ask for permission — click Yes). - Delete all files in that folder (they're stuck print jobs).
- Go back to services, right-click Print Spooler, and select Start.
Step 2: Set the Printer as Default
- Go to Settings→ Bluetooth & devices→ Printers & scanners.
- Click your HP Officejet Pro 9730e.
- Click Set as default (if it's not already).
Step 3: Restart the Printer and PC
Sometimes the basics work best:
- Power off your printer.
- Restart your PC.
- Once the PC is back on, turn the printer back on.
- Try printing again.
Step 4: Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download from here: HP Print and Scan Doctor.
- Open the tool and follow the prompts.
- It can auto-fix spooler issues, offline status, and driver faults.
Step 5: Reinstall the Printer
- Go to Settings > Printers & scanners.
- Remove the printer.
- Reboot your PC.
- Re-add the printer:
- Either through HP Smart (recommended)
- Or “Add a printer or scanner” in Settings
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
