Hi @jerlin2,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and powering it on. This can sometimes reset any electronic issues.
Check for Obstructions:
- Open the access door and carefully inspect for any paper jams or foreign objects that might be blocking the carriage movement.
Inspect the Metal Tab and Printhead Path:
- With the printer powered off, gently move the metal tab if it appears to be out of place. Be cautious not to bend or force any components.
- Ensure that the printhead path is clear and that there are no obstructions.
Reinstall Printhead:
- Remove and reinstall the printhead to ensure it is seated correctly. Sometimes improper installation can cause the carriage to lock.
Printer Reset:
- With the printer on, perform a hard reset by unplugging the power cord from the back of the printer while it is still on. Then, unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds, then plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer. Turn the printer back on.
I hope this helps.
