Hi @Birrell

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your printer is only printing blank pages, here are clear and detailed steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Step 1: Check Ink or Toner Levels

  1. Open your printer’s control panel or software on your computer.
  2. Verify the ink or toner levels. If any cartridge is empty or low, replace it with a new one.
  3. Ensure that the cartridges are properly installed and seated correctly.

Step 2: Remove Protective Tape

  1. If you recently installed new cartridges, check if the protective tape or plastic covering is still on the cartridge nozzles.
  2. Remove the tape carefully without damaging the nozzles.

Step 3: Run a Printhead Cleaning

  1. Access the printer’s maintenance menu via the control panel or printer software.
  2. Select Clean Printhead or Printhead Maintenance.
  3. Run the cleaning cycle and print a test page to check if the issue is resolved.
    • You may need to run multiple cleaning cycles if the printer hasn’t been used for a while.

Step 4: Check for Clogged Nozzles

  1. Print a Nozzle Check Pattern (available in the maintenance menu).
  2. If the pattern is incomplete or missing, perform a Deep Cleaning from the printer settings.

Step 5: Verify Paper and Print Settings

  1. Ensure you’re using the correct type and size of paper compatible with your printer.
  2. Check the print settings in the print dialog box:
    • Ensure the correct paper size, orientation, and layout are selected.
    • Make sure the Skip Blank Page option is enabled (if available).

Step 6: Update Printer Drivers

  1. Visit the manufacturer’s support website and search for your printer model.
  2. Download and install the latest drivers for your printer.
  3. Restart your computer and try printing again.

Step 7: Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for 2–3 minutes.
  3. Plug it back in, turn it on, and test the printer.

Step 8: Test with a Different Document

  1. Try printing a different file or document to rule out issues with the specific file.
  2. If possible, print from another device to see if the problem persists.

If this solution hits the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Regards,
