I tried this trick with the foil. It was not successful. What the video doesn't warn about is that the contact springs are not necessarily captive so when you take the back off, the springs can fly out and get lost, which is what happened to me. Without the springs to hold the foil against the contact pads, it is hit and miss as to whether the foil will make contact. In my case, it didn't. Instead, I resorted to using blobs of solder to connect the pads. This worked although, from the poor print quality, even after multiple head cleaning attempts, I think I'm going to have to change the printhead anyway 😞
