I understand your Officejet 6500 is changing the number of copies. I will do my best to assist you! Please plug this printer into a direct wall, not a surge protector. This step is mandatory, as this will test out the power and verify if you're experiencing the same problem.
Next, please perform a hard reset on your printer. I will provide a HP document on performing this step here. Leave the power cord out of the printer for more than 60 seconds.
Also, make sure the printer has a up to date Firmware. Please check here and choose your correct model number. If your printer is wireless, then try performing a update on your printer:
- On the product control panel, touch the Right Arrow to display the second navigation screen.
- Touch Setup, and then touch the Down Arrow to display the Web Services Setup Menu.
- Touch Web Services Setup.
- Touch the Down Arrow to select Product Updates.
- Touch Check for Product Updates.
