1. Very rarely are 49 errors the result of a hardware failure. One way to narrow down the cause is to disconnect all usb and network cables (as applicable) and turn off any wireless it may be connecting to. Once all forms of communication are turned off, turn off the printer and then power back on. If the printer now comes to ready, then you know that most likely you have a corrupt driver or print job or out of date firmware. The 49 error is basically the printer failing because it gets data or commands it does not understand.
If the printer is now at ready, reconnect you communication method. If the error returns, this is a strong indicator that you have a corrupt print job or print job containing unrecognized data. Disconnect the printer again and then you will need to purge the print spooler on your computer.
Once that is done, reconnect your printer then update your firmware on the printer (keeping in mind that updating firmware will stop any 3rd party supplies from working.
