Very very very intersting!
I'm in Italy, so everything is set as default for the A4 format (ipad documents and printer).
Depending on which paper I select in Printer controller, the output is different!!!!
letter 8,5x11= about 85% downscaling
A4 = about 95% downscaling
US legal= 100% !!!!!
But the app doesnt'care about the margins informations coming from the document. I mean that if I set an upper margin of 2cm, in the US legal print the upper margin is more than double. So I understand that the document (text, image, etc.) is centerd in the page despite the margin information. As consequence, if I print my document selecting US legal using A4 paper, the final printing is outside the paper. So unfortunately US legal is not a solution for me.
It's now clear that while Apple drivers (Airprint) are capable to manage A4, HP drivers don't. They are set for US legal, amd other format outputs are processed like a mere downscaling. Great disappointment!
Thank you for your other suggestions, they don't work for solving the problem but are good example on how to manage files. Thanks
I finally think that the last thing is to wait the new release of Printer Controller and see if there is a substantial change. Fingers are crossed
