Hi @MikeL30,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating it can be when your scanner won’t go online despite trying the suggested steps. To help troubleshoot further, could you clarify:
- Is the printer itself working fine for printing, or is it also showing offline?
- Is the printer connected via USB or Wi-Fi? If Wi-Fi, is it on the same network as your computer?
- Have you recently changed your router, network settings, or security software?
- Does the HP Smart app or Windows scan tool detect the scanner at all?
Meanwhile, here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can try:
Step 1: Restart Devices & Check Connection
- Turn off your printer, computer, and router. Wait for 1-2 minutes and turn them back on.
- If connected via Wi-Fi, make sure the printer is connected to the correct network.
Step 2: Check Windows Services
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
- Look for Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) and make sure it is running and set to Automatic.
- Restart the service and try scanning again.
Step 3: Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor to detect and fix common scanning issues.
Step 4: Reinstall HP Drivers
- Uninstall the printer from Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Download the latest full-feature driver from the HP Support website.
- Reinstall the printer and test scanning again.
Let me know what happens after these steps! 😊
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
