Thank you very much, Repairatrooper. I will try this. I paid a technician to come and check out the printer to find and, hopefully, solve the problem. Now I realize he didn't know to look for the possible solenoid problem. He called back today to say he found a roller assembly, but beyond that he wasn't interested and tells me to just get a new all-in-one printer. This one, although old, has been lightly used and a core belief of mine is to repair and reuse whenever possible.
BTW, I did not receive an email from HP.com that someone had responded -- unless maybe in spam...
