Hi @LionDAPage, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "expired certificate" error you're encountering on your MacBook Air running macOS Sequoia when attempting to print to your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw is due to an expired self-signed certificate within the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS). This issue affects macOS and iOS devices, while other devices like Windows PCs and iOS devices continue to print successfully. To resolve this, you'll need to generate a new self-signed certificate for your printer. Here's how you can do it:
Generating a New Self-Signed Certificate:
Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS):
- On a device that can still communicate with the printer (preferably a Windows PC):
- Open a web browser.
- Enter the printer's IP address into the address bar. You can find this IP address on the printer's control panel under network settings.
Navigate to the Certificates Section:
- Once the EWS page loads, click on the "Network" tab.
- Expand "Advanced Settings" by clicking the plus sign.
- Click on "Certificates."
Create a New Self-Signed Certificate:
- Click on "Configure."
- Select "Create a New Self-Signed Certificate."
- Click "Next," then "Finish."
Restart the Printer:
- Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on to ensure the new certificate is applied.
Updating Printer Settings on Your Mac:
Remove the Existing Printer:
- On your Mac, go to "System Settings" > "Printers & Scanners."
- Select your HP printer from the list.
- Click the "-" button to remove it.
Add the Printer Back:
- Click the "+" button to add a new printer.
- Your printer should appear in the list.
- Select it.
- In the "Use" dropdown menu, choose "Secure AirPrint" or the specific HP driver if available.
- Click "Add."
By generating a new self-signed certificate and updating your Mac's printer settings, you should be able to resolve the "expired certificate" error and resume printing from your Mac.
