@Bcool1, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer will not stop printing!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

t seems like the issue could be related to a stuck print job or a communication error between the laptop and the printer. Here's a step-by-step troubleshooting process you can follow:

Cancel All Print Jobs:

  • Go to the printer queue on your laptop and cancel all the pending print jobs.
  • If the print jobs don’t cancel from the laptop, cancel them directly from the printer's control panel.

Clear Printer Queue:

  • On your laptop, navigate to the Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Right-click on the HP MFP M283cdw > See what's printing.
  • Cancel any remaining jobs and close the print queue.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for about 30 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Firmware/Driver Updates:

  • Check if your printer has the latest firmware and drivers. Sometimes outdated software can cause strange printing behavior.
  • Visit the HP support website to check for updates or use the HP Smart app.

Check the Printer Settings:

  • Verify if there is any setting such as “Auto Print” enabled, which might be causing the continuous printing.
  • Check the printer's settings from the control panel, especially in the print job settings.

Reboot the Laptop:

  • After ensuring the printer is reset, reboot your laptop again to ensure the communication is properly re-established.

Check for Errors on the Printer Display:

  • If the printer resumes printing when it runs out of paper, make sure there are no error messages on the printer's display, such as a jam or a paper feed issue.

Test with Another Device:

  • Try printing from another device to check if the issue is specific to your laptop.

If the issue persists after following these steps, it might be a deeper issue with the printer’s firmware or a corrupted print job that didn’t cancel properly.

Let me know how it goes!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
