@DaveTP, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

I hear your frustration! It can be really tough when a reliable printer starts acting up unexpectedly. The blinking error lights, and the tray stuck on one side—yeah, that’s a situation that can definitely throw anyone off. I totally get why you'd be hesitant to invest in a new one just yet, especially if this printer has been a solid workhorse for years. Let’s try a few more things to see if we can reset it, and if not, I'll help you decide if it’s time to upgrade.

Power Cycle the Printer
First things first, even though the power button isn’t responding, let’s try a hard reset. Unplug the printer from the wall. Wait for at least 1 minute (this is important for the internal memory to reset), then plug it back in and see if the error clears up.

Check for Paper Jams
Sometimes the tray gets stuck because of a paper jam or debris that’s blocking the movement. Gently open any accessible areas and check for paper or foreign objects. If you find any, carefully remove them.

Check Cartridge Tray Movement
Since the tray is stuck to the right, check for any visible obstruction or issues with the movement mechanism. You should be able to gently push it back to its original position without applying force. If there’s resistance, there might be something causing it to misalign. You can try moving the tray with the power off, just to make sure it’s not caught on anything.
