We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
The “Printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed” error on your HP Officejet Pro 8620 usually indicates a connection issue, a dirty or faulty printhead, or outdated firmware. Try these steps to resolve the issue:
Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
- Wait 2-3 minutes.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Reseat the Printhead
Since you've already reinstalled it, try cleaning the contacts:
- Turn on the printer and open the ink cartridge access door.
- Remove the ink cartridges and set them aside.
- Lift the latch on the printhead and remove it.
- Clean the electrical contacts (gold-colored dots) on both the printhead and the printer with a lint-free cloth and distilled water (no alcohol).
- Let it dry for a minute, then reinstall the printhead and cartridges.
- Close the door and check if the error persists.
Update Firmware
If the printer screen is accessible:
- Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.
- Install any available updates.
Try a Semi-Full Reset
A factory reset may help:
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the power cord for 60 seconds.
- While plugging it back in, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Release the button and turn on the printer.
Replace the Printhead
If the issue persists, the printhead may be faulty. You can:
- Order a replacement from HP (HP 950/951 printhead).
Let me know if any of these steps worked or if you need further help! 😊
Take care, and have an amazing day!
