Hi @lorraine_f44 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the "printer in error state message HP07C3CW " message on your HP Officejet 6600 printer typically indicates a communication or hardware problem. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Step 1: Restart Devices

  1. Turn off your printer and disconnect the power cord.
  2. Shut down your computer.
  3. Unplug your modem/router (if using a network connection).
  4. Wait for 2–3 minutes.
  5. Reconnect and turn on the modem/router, followed by the printer and the computer.

Step 2: Check Connections

  • For USB Connection: Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer.
  • For Network Connection: Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. Print a Wireless Network Test Report from the printer's control panel to verify connectivity.

Step 3: Clear Print Queue

  1. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click your HP Officejet 6600 and select See what's printing.
  3. Cancel all pending print jobs.

Step 4: Update/Reinstall Drivers

  1. Download the latest drivers for the HP Officejet 6600 from the HP Support website.
  2. Uninstall the existing driver:
    • Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
    • Locate the HP driver, right-click, and select Uninstall.
  3. Install the downloaded driver and follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 5: Perform a Printer Reset

  1. Turn on the printer and ensure it is idle.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and unplug it from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to the printer and the wall outlet.
  5. Turn on the printer and check if the error state persists.

Step 6: Verify Printer Settings

  1. Ensure the printer is set as the default:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click the HP Officejet 6600 and select Set as default printer.
  2. Open HP Smart or Printers & Scanners to ensure the printer status is "Ready."

Step 7: Run HP Print and Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor

  1. Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to detect and fix issues.

Step 8: Test Printing

  • Try printing a test page from the printer's control panel or your computer to confirm the issue is resolved.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
