Hi @lorraine_f44 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the "printer in error state message HP07C3CW " message on your HP Officejet 6600 printer typically indicates a communication or hardware problem. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
Step 1: Restart Devices
- Turn off your printer and disconnect the power cord.
- Shut down your computer.
- Unplug your modem/router (if using a network connection).
- Wait for 2–3 minutes.
- Reconnect and turn on the modem/router, followed by the printer and the computer.
Step 2: Check Connections
- For USB Connection: Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer.
- For Network Connection: Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. Print a Wireless Network Test Report from the printer's control panel to verify connectivity.
Step 3: Clear Print Queue
- On your computer, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your HP Officejet 6600 and select See what's printing.
- Cancel all pending print jobs.
Step 4: Update/Reinstall Drivers
- Download the latest drivers for the HP Officejet 6600 from the HP Support website.
- Uninstall the existing driver:
- Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
- Locate the HP driver, right-click, and select Uninstall.
- Install the downloaded driver and follow the on-screen instructions.
Step 5: Perform a Printer Reset
- Turn on the printer and ensure it is idle.
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and unplug it from the wall outlet.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer and the wall outlet.
- Turn on the printer and check if the error state persists.
Step 6: Verify Printer Settings
- Ensure the printer is set as the default:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click the HP Officejet 6600 and select Set as default printer.
- Open HP Smart or Printers & Scanners to ensure the printer status is "Ready."
Step 7: Run HP Print and Scan Doctor HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to detect and fix issues.
Step 8: Test Printing
- Try printing a test page from the printer's control panel or your computer to confirm the issue is resolved.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
