Unfortunately once HP+ has been activated it is embedded in the printer and at this time HP does not offer any way around it. Is it possible that the printer was also signed up for instant ink and that is generating the error? Instant Ink subscriptions can be cancelled, but you will then need to replace the toner cartridge with a retail version.
