Hi @Lynda1978,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
For the "There is a problem with the supply system" error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710, here are some troubleshooting steps to try.
Check the Cartridge and Ink Levels:
- Ensure the new cartridge is properly installed and is compatible with your printer model.
- Check that the protective tape on the cartridge has been fully removed.
- Ensure the cartridge is seated correctly in the printer.
Check for Obstructions:
- Open the printer and check for any debris or paper stuck inside, particularly around the cartridge area.
- Make sure the ink supply system (tubes, etc.) isn't clogged or obstructed.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 30 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn the printer on. This can sometimes clear the error message.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and remove the ink cartridges.
- Gently clean the copper-colored contacts on both the cartridge and the printer using a soft, lint-free cloth or a cotton swab lightly moistened with water.
- Let the contacts dry before reinstalling the cartridge.
Firmware Update:
- Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date, as outdated firmware can sometimes cause supply system errors.
- Visit HP’s official support page to check if there is an update available for your model.
Perform a Printer Reset:
- You can also perform a factory reset on your printer. This will reset all settings, but can often resolve persistent error messages.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
