Hi @Hgarci,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the black ink stain down the right side of your printouts could indicate an issue with the toner cartridge, the drum unit, or the fuser. Since replacing the toner cartridge did not resolve the issue, it's likely related to one of the other components. Here’s what you can do:

1. Inspect the Toner Cartridge

  • Remove the toner cartridge and inspect it for any physical damage or toner leaks.
  • Gently shake the cartridge to ensure the toner is evenly distributed.
  • Wipe the exterior of the cartridge with a clean, lint-free cloth if there is excess toner.

2. Check the Drum Unit

  • The drum unit is responsible for transferring the toner to the paper. If it is dirty or damaged, it can cause streaks.
  • Inspect the drum (usually a shiny cylinder) for any toner buildup or scratches.
  • If you see any toner residue, clean the drum with a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol. Do not touch the drum with bare hands as oils can damage it.

3. Run a Cleaning Cycle

  • Perform a second cleaning cycle from the printer’s settings.
  • Check your printer’s user manual for a "Secondary Cleaning Mode" or "Drum Cleaning" option, if available.

4. Inspect and Clean the Paper Path

  • Open the printer and check for any loose toner powder or paper debris inside.
  • Use a lint-free cloth or a soft brush to clean the paper path.
  • Avoid using compressed air as it can spread toner particles.

5. Examine the Fuser

  • The fuser unit bonds the toner to the paper. A dirty or worn fuser can cause streaks or smudges.
  • Look for any toner residue or damage on the fuser roller.
  • If the fuser is damaged or excessively dirty, it may need to be replaced.

6. Use Quality Paper

  • Ensure you’re using the correct type and quality of paper for your printer.
  • Low-quality or damp paper can cause toner to smear or stick unevenly.

7. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for a few minutes.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on. This can help clear any temporary glitches.

8. Replace the Drum or Fuser (if needed)

  • If cleaning does not resolve the issue, the drum or fuser may be at the end of its life and require replacement.
  • Refer to your printer’s manual for instructions on replacing these components.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
