Sorry about that. Sometimes going through these steps as if there is actually visible paper in the printer, can move a stuck part or loosen a nearly invisible piece of paper from a roller or some other moving part. Generally on printers that give me a jam error, I start with opening and closing everything available. Then a hard power reset (unplug power cord while unit still turned on waiting 30 seconds then connecting power cord) of the printer. I will even remove and reinstall the ink cartridges. Just in case something is stuck or being difficult. I would say it works at least half the time. Sometimes I will end up with a smidgeon size piece of paper on the desk that I didn't even see fall out. Occasionally I will get something like a staple or paper clip that was in a spot where I couldn't see it.
On a similar note, the document feeder may also look closed properly when it is not. I always open it and close it with pressure in the middle, not front or back.
Just things I have run into, hope that helps. After finding a mechanical pencil inside of a document feeder, on the second inspection, I now always inspect it several times.
