Hi @Cmorgan825 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer has a black screen and does not respond even after disconnecting and reconnecting the power source, here are some steps to troubleshoot:
1. Power Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord from both the printer and the power outlet.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds to allow the internal memory to reset.
- Reconnect the power cord directly to the wall outlet (not a power strip or surge protector) and then to the printer.
- Turn the printer back on and check if the screen comes back.
2. Check Power Source
- Ensure that the outlet is working by plugging another device into it.
- Try using a different power outlet if necessary.
- If possible, try using a different power cord to rule out an issue with the cord.
3. Perform a Firmware Update Update the firmware on an HP printer
If the screen returns after the power reset, check for a firmware update through the HP Smart app or HP website to ensure the printer is up to date.
4. Hard Reset (if applicable)
If the screen remains black:
- Unplug the printer and press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.
5. Test the Printer Control Panel
If the screen remains black but the printer turns on, the issue might be with the control panel or internal electronics. You can try to:
- Print using the HP Smart app or the computer to see if the printer still functions without using the screen. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
