I understand you're receiving "Printhead Failure" and the screen is flickering, then goes black. Please make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector. This step is mandatory since your screen goes black.
Make sure you have followed this entire HP document on Missing or Failed Printhead' Message Displays on the Control Panel.
