Check the Cartridge Installation:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Open the printer cover and ensure the black cartridge is installed correctly. Remove and then reinsert it to make sure it is properly seated.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the black ink cartridge.
- Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer.
- Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the cartridge.
Check for Protective Tape:
