Hi @Silkiemom,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Printer ink cartridge recognition issues can be frustrating, but there are several troubleshooting steps you can take to try and resolve the problem:

Ensure Proper Installation: Make sure the ink cartridge is properly installed in the printer according to the manufacturer's instructions. Sometimes cartridges can be slightly misaligned or not fully clicked into place, which can prevent recognition.

Clean Contacts: Ink cartridges have metal contacts that connect with the printer. These contacts can sometimes get dirty or covered in ink residue, preventing proper communication with the printer. Gently clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly dampened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol. Be sure to let the contacts dry completely before reinstalling the cartridge.

Restart Printer: Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source for a few minutes. Then plug it back in and turn it on again. This can sometimes reset the printer's internal settings and resolve recognition issues.

Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model. Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause compatibility issues with new ink cartridges. If updates are available, follow the Hp instructions to install them.

Try Another Cartridge: If possible, try using a different new ink cartridge to see if the problem persists. This can help determine if the issue is with the cartridge itself or the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
