Hi @TheIgloo ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the "Missing or Failed Printhead" error on the HP Officejet Pro 8620 can be quite frustrating.

Here are a few additional steps you can try to resolve this issue:

1. Clean the Printhead Contacts

Sometimes, the issue is caused by dirty or corroded contacts on the printhead. To clean the contacts:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Open the printer to access the printhead.
  3. Remove the printhead carefully.
  4. Use a lint-free cloth or a coffee filter lightly moistened with distilled water to gently clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
  5. Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the printhead.

2. Perform a Hard Reset

A hard reset can sometimes clear errors:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for 60 seconds.
  3. While the printer is off, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  4. Release the power button and plug the printer back in.
  5. Turn the printer on.

3. Update Printer Firmware

An outdated firmware version may cause compatibility issues:

  1. Go to the HP Support website.
  2. Search for your printer model (HP Officejet Pro 8620).
  3. Download and install the latest firmware update for your printer.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.

4. Reinstall the Printhead

Ensure the printhead is seated correctly:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Open the printer to access the printhead.
  3. Remove the printhead and the ink cartridges.
  4. Reinstall the printhead, making sure it is securely seated.
  5. Reinstall the ink cartridges.
  6. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

5. Check for Printer Driver Issues

Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed:

  1. Go to the HP Support website.
  2. Search for your printer model (HP Officejet Pro 8620).
  3. Download and install the latest drivers for Windows 10 (64-bit).

6. Reset the Printer to Factory Settings

Resetting the printer to its factory settings can sometimes resolve issues:

  1. On the printer's control panel, touch the Setup icon (usually a wrench or gear icon).
  2. Navigate to Printer Maintenance or Service.
  3. Select Restore Factory Defaults.
  4. Confirm the reset.
