I have an HP LaserJet 4 that works like a charm. The original printer cable to it didn't work with my new computer, so I ordered a Dynex USB to parallel converter cable, which connects parallel printers to a USB port. The cable is installed and working properly. It is referred to as "IEEE - 1284 controller" in my "Devices and Printers" folder on my hard drive. Unfortunately, my computer isn't reading it as a printer port or recognizing HP LaserJet 4. I called Dynex. They checked everything out and said all was working, but I needed to contact HP to find out why my computer isn't reading the cable as a printer in a USB port. Can anyone help me?
