g1r,
Welcome to the HP Forum!
You might test whether the printer is picking up the correct parameters.
First,
- Switch the printer off, wait a few seconds, and then switch the printer back on
- Open a File Explorer / Windows Explorer window and navigate to the Windows Photo Viewer folder:
Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Photo Viewer
- Click on (execute) the program named: ImagingDevices.exe
Confirm that your printer shows up in the list of devices "attached" (available) to the Viewer program
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On your Desktop, open the photo to be printed with the Windows Photo Viewer
Right-Click on your photo >> Open with "Windows Photo Viewer"
Under tab Print (top ribbon),
- select "Print"
When the little print windows comes up,
Under Paper Size: (select) 4x6in.
Under Paper Type: Select HP Premium Photo paper
Down in the lower right corner of the little print window,
- select "Options"
When the Print Settings menu pops up,
- select "Printer Properties"
When the Paper / Quality menu pops up,
- confirm that the "Paper Source" is Photo Tray
- confirm that the "Paper Size" is 4x6in.
- Click OK to exit the Paper / Quality menu
- Click Print to print the selection
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You might also double check the paper - glossy side down and the little bar that keeps the paper aligned should be tight against the side of the paper.
Hope that helps!
