Printing "ghosts" or haze around images.

HP color LaserJet 4600n

So I've talked with an expert over at Adobe and he tells me to talk to my printer manufacturer. Here I am. 

If I print from Photoshop or Acrobat I get a ghost around my images, especially noticable around text on a white background. If I save the file as a jpeg and print from Microsoft's photo viewer it prints crystal clear. So obviously, not the printer.

Guy over at Adobe tells me it has something to do with an API. 

I'm really confused as to how it could print fine from one application and not well in another. 

Any help is appreciated.
