My HP 5660 has not ever been able to print from any applications other than Adobe Acrobat. This includes all Microsoft Office applications, web browsers and graphic / image software. In order to print any document, I have to convert it to a PDF, open it in Acrobat, and print it. But even that sometimes does not work. I can email documents to the printer, but this is not an acceptable solution for using my printer.
Documents will be sent to the printer, they will show up in the system tray and in the printer queue, and then they will disappear, as if they were successfully sent to the printer, but then they will never actually print. I never receive any error messages.
The printer is connected through my wireless network.
Now, before someone tells me to uninstall and reinstall the printer software, etc:
This has been happening for 6 months. I thought it could be a windows issue and knew I had an old windows install that maybe needed to be refreshed. So I completely reinstalled windows from scratch, which did not fix this. The same problem occurred with both windows 8 and windows 10, with fresh installs of the printer and software. I have run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which shows that everything is fine with the printer. It is unable to print a test page though, but is able to print an "internal test page." It then just recommends I uninstall and reinstall the software, which I have already done a number of times and has not fixed the issue.
