I have an HP officejet pro 8600 plus. Any time i print a photo, of any size, the printer begins to print and when it gets to be about 95% done, the photo paper stops advancing and the printhead continues to print, basically printing over the same area multiple times.
I've tried 4x6 and 8.5x11 photo paper using HP premium plus photo paper. I'm using windows 8 64 bit. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the full version drivers.
It always happens at the bottom of the print. If i'm printing, for example, a wallet size photo onto 4x6 photo paper, i don't have the problem because the photo is centered onto the paper. If i print a 3.5x5 image onto 4x6 photo paper, i still have the problem. I've attached photos of 2 recent prints so you can see what i'm talking about. The image is of 3 separate 4x6 prints. The image on the top left was a 4x6 image on 4x6 paper. Top right is a 3.5x5 image on 4x6 paper. Bottom is a wallet size image on 4x6 paper. You can see only the bottom image doesn't have issues. This paper jammed too but the printing didn't overlap to create a problem with the image. If i were to have printed (2) 3.5x5 images on a single 4x6 photo paper, i do still have the problem described.
It almost feels like it's just not feeding correctly. Once it stops moving, and printing seems to be going over the same area, when the printing finishes, the paper is still in the printing area. I actually have to grab it to pull it out and make it fall to the landing area.
I've tried printing from picasa and windows directly. I've tried printing from 2 different computers connected to the same printer, which is connected wirelessly.
I'm using genuine hp ink, have replaced ink, have aligned, cleaned, etc. I've checked and printer firmware is up to date.
I am frustrated beyond belief. I paid a lot of money for this printer, specifically to print decent photos from home, and it's not working. Of course it's outside of the warranty. I should point out that it has not always behaved this way. This behavior has surfaced in the last couple of months. It's just taken me this long to finally write up my issue, partly because i have a real need to print photos now since it's the holidays.
Has anyone seen this or have solutions to correct? I'm willing to try anything. I went with this HP printer after having a couple of canon printers that i liked but my experience here has been very negative. If it can't do what i want, i'm tossing this thing and getting a new one.
Your help is appreciated.
Thanks.
