Amanda,
You are welcome.
The "odd" emailed document may have been created with an older version of OFFICE -- or perhaps the original document was not even Word -- and was "saved as" a Word document using a third party software. Not everything translates all that well.
It might even have been something simple like the original document used some "odd" font library -- and the person creating the file did not remember to "embed" the fonts used to create the contents.
One of the things you can do with a "stubborn" Word doc: filter (copy) the contents into WordPad - WordPad is not all that intelligent (by design, it is a simpler software) -- but the program can sometimes "reconstruct" Word documents into something the printer can handle.
I am glad you found a workaround!
Happy Printing!
