Apparently you are not up to date on the office jet 6500a plus copier--this unit does have printer head that is customer replaceable. You did not address the problem of why the program for cleaning the print head from the copier or the computer cannot be run-- All the troubleshooting help tells you to run this progam to clean the print head--as soon as you get to this point--the printer comes up with the error problem with the printer ink system and does not allow the (clean print head program to be run)--what is the use of having a program to clean the print if it can't be run when the printer is in a trouble mode. This electronic troubleshooting is not new to me--I work on power generation equipement and have found that the most time consuming and agravating part of my job is dealing with the programs that run the electronic portion of my systems and apparently the companies that build printers are no different.
I noticed that on this forum that you were the only person to respond to this problem which told me that the chances for fixing this unit were slim to none. Do not take my comments personal as aggravation needs to be directed to the people that purposely design the operating system to shut down their units.
Don't waste any more of you time on this as I have already bought a new unit and you can bet it was not an HP unit.
