I have 2 identical L7555 all-in-one printers and both are giving me the same problem, indicating there is a paper jam (which there is not one) and that there is also a carriage jam. I have tried all the recommended solutions on the HP website. Both carriages glide easily across the width when pushed gently by hand, and there does not appear to be anything in it's way. If they are in the right-hand position, they will come back to the left automatically when the machine is cycled on, but they will only move back to the right approx 1" before stopping.
The printheads have been checked, reseated, and they are not blocking it's passage back to the right. I cannot print a test report because the printheads will not go into position to print anything.
I have also cleaned the encoder strip with alcohol, but that has not helped either. I live in East Africa (which is where these machines were purchased) but cannot find a knowledgeable HP-qualified repair person. Can anyone give me an idea if there is a known issue for both the machines to be giving me the same problem?
