When I installed WIndows 8 x64 at first, where was no driver for Windows 8 available from HP. I downloaded Windows 7 driver and installed it manually from device manager. The printer was working. But after the computer was rebooted, the printer would not work. Entering the printer properities wouldn't do anything. It's as if the driver got frozen. Restarting the Printer Spool service would fix the problem and the printer would work, but with a minute delay before the print-out gets cleared in the print que. After the next reboot the problem starts again.
Now I noticed that a basic driver has been released for Windows 8 x64. I uninstalled the printer drivers from device manager until it was showing a questions mark in device manager. Then I installed the new Windows 8 basic driver, but the problem is still there. After restarting Print Spool, I can print. After rebooting the computer, the print driver getting frozen, until I restart the Print Spool service again.
Do you think the Windows 7 driver messed up the print spool service somehow? Is it something that can be fixed? Thanks.
