HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus - various problems!

I've just got rid of my Samsung B&W laser and replaced it with this HP model as an all-in-one solution, but I'm beginning to regret it already!

I print glossy certificates; they are A5 size and all pre-printed except for the black ink data (name, expiry date etc) that gets printed onto them from an Access database. It all used to work very well with my old Samsung but now I have TWO issues that I cannot find a workaround with.

ISSUE 1: I input the paper size as A5, because it is... yet the printer spits out three blank certificates for every one that needs printed! I cannot find a way of stopping this from happening. If I try to print out as A4, tyhe printer senses that I am in fact using A5 stock, so won't allow me to print. All I want, as with my old Samsung, is for the damned thing to print one A5 certificate out for each record on the database. It should be that simple... but it's not.

ISSUE 2: My certificates are a glorrsy art card stock and I used to have a preset printing preference for them on my old printer - 'Card stock'. That was all that was required and the ink dried perfectly on them.

This HP, however, is spilling too much ink onto the certficates, so everything smudges as soon as it is touched or comes into contact with another certificate! I've tried setting up card stock, glossy photo paper, specialised paper... but nothing seems to work.

I am extremely frustrated by this. Does anyone have an answer for me please?
