Hi Mark, when you decide to uninstall the drivers before reinstalling the HP software I would like you to run a program
called CCleaner & in this program select the Registry cleaner option. Make sure to select the registry backup option before applying the cleanup issues.
One other thing can you check the following Windows settings.
Click on Windows Logo(Start)>>Control Panel
Click on Programs and Features
Click on the option Turn on Windows features On and off
Click on the + sign next to “Print and Document Services”
Check all the options under that and click OK
Have you tried connecting your wife's computer to the printers USB directly?
Did you have any other printers connected to your computer?
