@countryman69, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
That sounds very frustrating. Let's work through this calmly. Your HP LaserJet 100 Color MFP M175nw might not be totally FUBAR yet — there are still a few things we can try.

Here’s what I suggest:

1. Basic Power Reset (the right way)

  • Unplug the power cable from both the printer and the wall socket.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds (not just a few seconds).
  • Hold down the power button on the printer (while it's unplugged) for 15 seconds.
  • Now plug the power cable directly into a wall outlet (no surge protector or extension lead).
  • Then try to turn it on.

Sometimes holding the power button while disconnected drains leftover voltage ("residual charge"), which could be blocking startup.

2. Check the Power Source & Cable

  • Test the wall socket with another device (like a phone charger or lamp) to make sure the socket is alive.
  • Check the printer’s power cable for any visible damage.
  • If you have a compatible spare cable (standard C7 "figure-8" cable), try swapping it.

3. Signs of Life Test

  • When you plug it back in, does anything happen at all?
    • Do any fans twitch?
    • Any tiny noise?
    • Any LED blink, even briefly?

If literally nothing happens — no hum, no flicker, no sound — it’s probably a power supply board failure inside the printer.

4. Why This May Have Happened

LaserJets like the M175nw are famous for:

  • Power Supply Unit (PSU) failures after an internal short or thermal event.
  • Mainboard failures if the PSU hiccupped.
  • Rarely, corrupt firmware can crash it badly — but usually, you get some signs of life if it's just firmware.

If none of the above works, then you will have to visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you. Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center:HP® Service Center Locator - United Kingdom | HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
