Last night I was updating the firmware on my M1522nf priner which was direct connected via USB to my PC. while it was saying Programming the arrow indicator under the word went to about 3/4 way and stopped figuring this might take some time I went to bed and would let it run through the night. I come in to find it had not budged. Then the unimaginable happened. I lost power to the printer for a moment. Now when the printer is turned on all it says is Hewlett-
Packard with three >>> under it. I shut it off for several hours thinking this might clear the problem. nothing. tried reinstalling the firmware update .. no response. uninstalled the printer from the computer shut down the printer for 1 minute (unplugged the usb cord also). when I turned back on the printer and plugged back in the usb cord all my windows 7 x64 system does is recognize it as a generic usb hub. so my questions are:
1) how do I get windows to recognize the printer is a printer again
2) other then sending it in to be repaired (Out of Warranty), how do I fix the firmware problem so it is something more then a big paperweight?
(fixing to attepmt to shut down+unplug printer and computer for 1 minute to see is that fixes the recognition problem)
