When my desktop computer finally huffed its last breath, I decided to attach it's hp 940c printer to my laptop. My desktop had Window XP operating system and the printer was connected using a parallel port. My laptop has Windows 7 and the printer is connected using a USB port.
Windows recognized the printer when I plugged it in and applied the appropriate drivers--or so I thought. The printer does work but many of the features that were available to me before are gone now--ink fill meter, test page, print head clean/adjustment, etc. But the most important missing feature is the 2-sided (duplex) print feature. It does not even show up as an option on the print adjustment section of the Devices and Printers folder--nor in the Print set up section of my Office or Adobe software suites.
I still have the software disks that came with the printer but a friend said that uploading that old Me/XP software to Window 7 is asking for trouble.
What can I do to get the duplex feature to work again?
