I have the same problem. Undoubtely this is an Issue with this model of printer and HP is trying to ignore it.. It should have been recalled for repair or upgrade. After nearly two hours of talking to HP customer support of which I could not half understand their bad english, getting the run around for over an hour to check other things on the printer, ( after I had repeatly told them the printer worked fine, the proplem was the touchpad losing contrast and turning white ) they finally agreed to send me a refurbished printer for replacment since mine was still under warranty. So now I'm waiting for the replacement, and wondering how long it will last before the touchpad goes bad on it. My original warranty expires Jan 27th, 2014. I have been a HP customer for 16 years. I still have my Photosmart 1115 that is 12 years old and have never had a problem with it. The last few years every HP product I have purchased has been junk. It's time to check out other brands.
