Hi Bob and thanks for your advice. I followed your suggestion but the result is no change. My printer is identified as HP Deskjet 1000 J110 series (REST)

Driver Date 10/11/2009
Driver Version 1.0.0.0
Both the HP wizard and HP Scan Doctor checkout everything OK and installed correctly.
I've also tried installing the DJ1000_J110_Basicx64_1313 driver.
It's odd but at the end of the install I do get an ink level dialogue but this just 'hangs' when I respond.
